www.chicagoimpressionism.com
Chicago Impressionism is a new genre that is influenced and inspired by
the impressionist paintings at the Art Institute of Chicago. Painters
who study the Impressionist paintings themselves, studying the actual
paintings housed in the museum in Chicago, as opposed to formal Art
School training, have been inspired to create Art with an
Impressionistic influence. As a locally emerging genre, Chicago
Impressionism is of interest to all artists and art lovers alike who
want to explore the ways in which established genres of art affect and
inspire new artists and to native Chicagoans who are interested in the
ways in which the city's rich and varied cultural environment continues
to influence a new generation of art and the people who create it.

In 1989 I recorded Wesley on a cheap hand held cassete recorder that I brought into Genesis Art Supplies to tape industrial sounds for a mix i was making.....just for the heck of it, I asked Wesley a question on tape. (Wesley spent a lot of his days at Genesis back then, drawing)....anyway, he started rambling on and on, in a creative, interesting manner into the tape recorder....recognizing the value of it, i took his talking/speech/ramble and mixed it into some music for the enjoyment of a few friends working at the store. And of course for the amusement of Wesley himself
It has been credited with inspiring Wesley to start writing his songs, start his musical career and become known...it may have..- I don't know- it may served as a catalyst... anyway, I have uploaded the tracks here for download. They are not well recorded...i had very cheap equipment then...but they present Wesley in a way that still has value.......enjoy...and visit the above link wesleywillisart.com to see Wesley's drawings.....Robert Fredericks -July 2005
